Utrera
Utrera has a long history, during the 14th-century it was occupied by the Moors.
Visitors can find examples of the Moorish occupation walking through the Banda Morisca, a fortress which was built to protect the kingdom of Granada.
Utrera is worth a visit for its two interesting churches, the Iglesia de Santiago and the Iglesia de Santa María de la Mesa. The Santiago church was built after the Reconquest, it has one of the finest Gothic architecture in Andalusia.

The Iglesia de Santa María dates back to the 16th-century and has an impressive and beautiful tower, partly designed by Hernán Ruiz.
The Sanctuario de la Consolación is another Utrera’s highlight, the sanctuary located on the edge of the city, has a beautiful decorated ceiling and is dedicated to the Virgen de la Consolación, the town’s patron saint.
Utrera has a famous flamenco festival called the Potaje Gitano which is held on the last Saturday in June every year.
Visitors will appreciate walking through the Utrera Natural Reserve, a notable andalusian birds reserve with several lakes.
