Turre

This small village has a Muslim origin and it is located on a small hill surrounded with fertile land approximately 5km inland from Mojacar. Most of the houses in Turre are painted white as they were in the past.

The Hermitage of San Francisco from the 16th century and the Parish Church de la Purisima Concepcion, built between 1861 and 1887 are the two most famous places of interest.

A large part of Turre is situated on the lower slopes of Sierra Cabrera, a beautiful mountain range which is excellent for rock climbing. There is also the possibility of taking nice walk to the preserved remains of the old villages of Teresa and Cabera. Cabera is nowadays transforming itself into a modern urban environment with many sporting and equestrian facilities. At the foot of Sierra Cabrera is the Cortijo Grange urbanization, a tourist resort with its own airfield and golf course.

In Turre there are also a wide selection of shops and restaurants with reasonable prices. Particularly interesting is the Friday market.
