Trebujena shares many similarities with other Spanish towns in terms of holidays and fiestas.
The first holiday of the year is New Years’ Day on January 1st.
At the end of February, Trebujena has its yearly Carnival. This is a very old, yearly tradition that is one of the most important fiestas and most celebrated of the year in Trebujena.
From March to April, the Spanish observes the Lenten Season. Lent culminates in the Semana Santa (“Holy Week”) in the second or third week of April. The Holy Week remembers the Biblical events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion. This is a very important season for the Catholic Spanish. The important days of the Holy Week are Easter Sunday and Good Friday. Also, April 21st is the Day of Trebujena.
The patron saint of Trebujena, Nuestra Señora de Palomares, is honored from August 12th to 16th. On this day, there is a fair, in addition to lively musical performances and dances. Around town, there are art contests and exhibits as well.
On November 1st, Trebujena remembers the beloved ones that passed away on the Todos Los Santos (“All Saint’s Day”). Then, on December 25th, the locals celebrate Christmas Day.
