On January the 1st, San Jose del Valle celebrates New Year’s Day. Then, at the end of February, the town holds its yearly Carnival. This is a plentiful 4 - 5 day event featuring music, live dances and entertainment, food, and fun fairgrounds.
From March to April, the town, along with the rest of Spain, observes the Lenten season, which ends with the Semana Santa (“Holy Week”) in the second or third week of April. The Holy Week remembers the Biblical passion of Jesus Christ, ending with his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
In the month of April as well, San Jose del Valle commemorates its independence. Then, from May the 24th to 27th, the town’s annual fair is held.
On August the 15th, the town holds its annual Romeria, a pilgrimage dedicated to the town’s patron saint.
On November 1, Todos Los Santos (“All Saints’ Day”) is celebrated. Finally, on December the 25th, Christmas Day is celebrated.
