Spain is known to be a country of fiestas. There more than 3000 festivals taking place every year, and many of these celebrations are actually celebrated on a national level.
Easter week or Semanta Santa (“The Whole Week”) is a typical fiesta for Christian towns such as Motril. It is celebrated with processions through the streets.
The Feast of the Holy Cross it’s celebrated on the 3rd of May and it is a tourist attraction. The whole city is decorated with flowers and crosses and many of the locals are dressed in fiesta costumes and most of the bars are prepared to offer unforgettable time to its guests.
On July the 16th, the local sailors and fishermen celebrate the day of the Virgen del Carmen.
The feast of Virgen del Rosario, which is held on October the 7th, is another tourist attraction. There is a huge beach party in the honor of the Virgen del Rosario.
