Motril with population of 50,000 is the biggest city on the Costa Tropical. It is situated in Andalusia between Malaga on the west and Almeria on the east. Because of the number of tourist that pass through Motril there are most of the shopping centers and stores of Costa Tropical and also many nightclubs, restaurants and supermarkets.
There are also a marina and a fishing port in Motril and ferries are available from here to Morroco. The two major beaches in Motril are Playa Granada and Playa Poniente.
