Linares is also known for it’s lead mines that are that are located to the north of the city, which today are no longer in use. The popular industry in Linares today is the automobile industry. The factory located in Linares produces parts for all-terrain vehicles from Suzuki and Rover as well as other agricultural machinery.
Around 7km from Linares the ancient ruins of Castulo are located that many consider the city predecessor of Linares and whose existence goes back in the times of the Iberians and Phoenicians.
