The city Jaén is located almost in the center of the Jaén province. The name derived from the Arabic word “yayyan” which means crossroads of caravans. Jaén today is the industry central of the Jaén province and has factories ranging from food, textile, chemical and distilleries. Jaén is also the world’s leader in production of olive oil and is also know as the world capital of olive oil.

Alcalá de la Real is a city situated in the province of Jaen midway from the city of Cordoba and Granada. From Muslim time, in 713, dates back the important network of watchtowers that were erected to defend the territory from the Normans.

Úbeda is one of the two towns in the Jaen province that are protected by the UNESCO for their cultural and historical heritage. The town of Úbeda was a very important place in the Moorish times when the castle and town walls were built. And also in the 16th century, due to the expansion of the textile industry in this region and because some of its nobility had political connections.

With population of 60,000 Linares is the second biggest town in the Jaén province. Not very know but quite interesting thing is that in Linares takes place the international championship in chess “Ciudad de Linares” which is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world of chess. The warm Mediterranean climate makes Linares a plesant vacation destination especially in the winter since the minimum temperature is of 9ºC. In summer the maximum of 41ºC. The annual rainfalls have an average of 650 mm on square meter, with an annual temperature of 15.5 ºC.
