Places of Interest
The Watch Tower is a one of the artifacts from the past. It was built in the 16th century by the Christians as a lookout outpost against invaders and pirates.
The Church of Santa Maria de la Meza is an old church showcasing baroque architecture, particularly noticeable on the altarpiece inside the church.
Another must see monument in Zahara is the Moorish castle constructed in the 7th century.
Outside the town, Puerto de Las Palomas (“Port of Doves”) is another interesting place to visit. This site is elevated which makes it a good place for hang gliding or simply enjoying the view.
Monuments that are also worth visiting include the Capilla de San Juan de Letrán (“Chapel of St. Juan de Letrán”), the Necrópolis and the Torre del Reloj.
