Promenade
The town’s star attraction is a smart seven-mile boardwalk or promenade that parallels the town’s Mediterranean coastline, separating a line of hotels from the stretch of ocean that lies between Spain and Morocco.
The Castle
In the course of the years military strategies were planned in order to defend not only the milling industry but also the ships that sailed off the Moorish coasts. So in 1763, the building of a castle started. It had quarters for cavalry and infantry, houses, storage rooms, chapel and a battery of 24 pounds cannons that could reach a league into the sea, almost 6 km. There are remains of this fortress at the top of Montemar, in an area known as “La Bateria”.
El Bajondillo
The El Bajondillo, an old fishing district and one of Torremolinos’ suburbs is a picturesque holdover from the older days of Torremolinos, lined with souvenir shops and little market kiosks, restaurants and bars.
