For more pre-historic attractions, tourists to Benalup-Casas Viejas can visit the area around Janda lagoon that has a large number of natural caves and grottos where primitive cave drawings and ancient dolmen rock formations can be found. In particular are the caves of Tajo de las Figuras, the caves of Arco and Cimera which have been declared Artistic Architectural Monuments in the 1920’s. These drawings and dolmens serve as proof of pre-historic communities in the area.

Benalup - Casas Viejas is located right at the step of the Los Arcornocales Nature Park. It is part of the famous Rota del Toro or Route of the Bulls and is ideal for short nature trips, with the Barbate river running alongside its territory. It is also close to the Laguna de la Janda. Hunting enthusiasts would enjoy the rich variety of game found in the area such as rabbits and hares, a variety of fowls like partridges, pheasants, turtledoves and ducks. There is also an abundance of deer. Another factor that’s contributing to the fast growing tourist industry of Benalup - Casas Viejas is its golf course that’s described as nothing short of excellent, with the beautiful green grass on its fairways and its exceptional clubhouse and facilities.

Visits the Monastery have to be previously arranged with the Town Hall of Benalup, who bring a group together with a guide. Transport is laid on from the Town Hall to the entrance of the finca which is 12 km from Benalup on the CA212. From here it is a pleasant 7-kilometer walk up to the monastery included in the trip.
