It is also an important heritage of the town’s past, this abbey is a neoclassic building with French Gothic and Italian Renaissance style. It has a courtyard inner, with a patio and three open air galleries and was probably built between 1530 and 1627.
It houses the Museum of Alcala Real and a tourist information bureau. Visitors will also be impress by the size of its imposing 42 meter high tower which is looming above the old part of the city. Next to the abbey there is a beautiful church, the St Juan Iglesia was built during the late 16th century and houses the statue of the local town’s saint patron the Cristo de la salud.
It’s the name given by the inhabitants to the streets surrounding the town hall. The district includes the church and convent of La Encarnation which dates from 1639. The town hall itself was built in the 18th century, and in 1791 a clock tower was added. Face to the town are fine 19th century architecture buildings.
