El Gastor

El Gastor is located on top of Lagarin Peak. On the north from El Gastor is the province of Seville, on the east Malaga and on the west and south by the mountain ranges of Cádiz.

It is located close to the towns of Grazalema and Zahara, on 1,060 meters above the sea level which gives a nice overview all other close municipalities. This is the primary reason why it is often called as the “balcony”.

Several theories were formed about the origin of its name but one stands as the town’s favorite: the name El Gastor was coined from the words “Tomb of the Giant” as according to myth, “Dolmenes” inhabited the place long time ago.

El Gastor is also very famous for its crafts handworks.
