Córdoba

Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain, the area of the province of Córdoba is close to 14,000 square kilometers, and it s in the north-central component of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is encircled by the provinces of Malaga, Sevilla, Badajos, Ciudad Real, Jaen, and Granada.

Córdoba was first founded by the Romans and then people of diverse cultures and religions (Jews, Muslims and Christians) have put in numerous contributions to the beauty of this outstanding place. A few number of important philosophers, scientists and artists surfaced from here. The contemporary Córdoba is now a Flamenco and Bullfighting township, and undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous places to visit in Southern Spain.

The countryside of Córdoba Province is tremendously speckled. You will dicover baroque churches, Moorish citadels, and flower-rich courtyards. Córdoba is also famous for its arid white wines.

At present, the province’s population is close to a million, in which more than 40% live in the capital. The province of Córdoba contains 75 municipalities.

There is a lot more to discover in this culturally-loaded community. Admiration for the different historical sites will not be impossible in Córdoba.

Córdoba is particularly famous all over the world for its colourful patios which are opened up to the public. The patios are internal open courtyard that form part of the typical architecture of the Andalusian town house. Patio Contest which takes place annualy on the second week of May, is a serious competition in which home-owners compete for the prize awarded to the most beautifully decorated patio.
